Windows 2000 PPP Setup
Using Internet Connection Wizard
This is a setup and general help guide for connecting to
aserty
using Windows 2000 and PPP. To follow these setup instructions, you must have an existing account and client ID with
aserty.
If you do not have an account, go to our Registration Center.
Using the Internet Connection Wizard v5.x
- To start Internet Connection Wizard -
Click "Start"
Click
"Settings"
Click "Control Panel".
- Double-click on "Internet Options"
Select the
"Connections" tab.
- Click on the "Setup" button in the top right.
- Select option 3: "I want to setup my Internet connection
manually."
Click "Next".
- Select option 1: "I connect through a phone line and a modem."
Click "Next".
- Depending on your location, select a dial-in
numbers from the aserty access list at the top of this page.
If you have call-waiting, add "*70," before the number.
- Remove the check mark from "Dial using the area code &
dialing properties."
- Click "Advanced".
- Click the "Addresses" tab at the top and make sure that
under the "DNS server address" section, there is a dot next to
"Always use the following:".
- For the "Primary DNS" enter "142.46.204.70"
For the "Alternate DNS" enter "142.46.204.125".
- Click "OK"
Click "Next".
- For User Name, enter your
aserty client ID.
For Password, enter your client ID password.
Leave the Domain field blank.
Click OK.
- Enter "aserty" in the field provided.
Click "Next".
- At the prompt "Do you want to set up an Internet mail account
now?" Select option 1: "Yes."
Click "Next".
- Enter your name in the field provided. (Usually your full
name.)
Click "Next".
- Enter your Internet e-mail address in the field provided. e.g.
username@aserty.com.
Click "Next".
- Make sure the "Incoming Mail" is a "POP3" Server.
- Enter "mail.aserty.com" as the "Incoming Mail (POP3 or IMAP)
Server".
- Enter "mail.aserty.com" as the "Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server".
- Click "Next".
- Enter your username in the "Account Name" box and your
password in the "Password" box. Do not include the
aserty
realm prefix with your username.
- Click "Next".
- Click "Finish".
- Right click on the blue "e" on your desktop. Click on
properties. Under the "General" tab, delete any text in the
address box and enter "http://www.aserty.com". Click "OK".
- Double-click on the "e" icon on your desktop to connect.
